How To Improve Your Health And Feel Younger Using Steam
One of my favorite ways to care for my health is using steam. It’s simple and inexpensive, and the health benefits of steam have been known for many years.
Steam is a versatile element. You can use it for anything from steam bathing in a sauna or steam shower, to cleaning your home and preparing your food.
Steam Bathing
The benefits of steam bathing regularly are tremendous and I assure you, it’s much more fun than a regular shower!
Some of the benefits of using a sauna or steam shower regularly include:
- Detoxification. Steam bathing causes you to sweat excessively and as a result, the toxins are released through that sweat. Everyone carries a buildup of toxins in their body which come from processed foods and breathing polluted air. It is important to regularly detoxify your body as they can cause many diseases and illnesses over time. Once you start steam bathing regularly, you will feel healthier and be healthier inside out.
- Great for your skin. The heat from the steam causes your blood vessels to dilate and your heart to pump blood faster. This causes an increase in blood circulation which has numerous positive effects. One of these is improving the health of your skin. More blood is pumped to your skin which is the largest organ on your body. As a result, it receives more oxygen and nutrients. This then translates into healthier, more radiant skin that will give you a gorgeous glow. Also, skin itself is cleaned as the dirt and impurities are flushed out along with the sweat. This leaves your skin healthy and soft to the touch.
- Improves function of your organs and body. The increase in blood circulation not only nourishes your skin. It also supplies more oxygen and nutrients to every part of your body! This means that all of your organs will function better which translate into a healthier and younger you.
- Relaxes the body and mind, offers natural pain relief and soothes your sinus or allergies. The effect of steam is therapeutic and is a great way to distress after a hard day of work. If you suffer from arthritis, a steam bath is a great way to ease those aches and pains.
Steaming Your Food
Another use of steam that will go a long way to improving your health is cooking. Steam cooking has been around for centuries and is an excellent method to prepare your food.
The reason why it is so healthy is because you aren’t cooking with oil and the food is only heated up to 212 Fahrenheit. This is the perfect temperature to cook food because at that temperature the vitamins and minerals within your food are still preserved as opposed to traditional cooking.
So what can you gain by steaming your food?
- Increases your heart’s health. Food that is prepared by steaming contains low fat content which is great for your heart and waist.
- Improved appearance. Your nails, hair and skin will look great because of the increase of vitamins and minerals in your diet which nourish them.
- More energy and stronger immune system. Those extra vitamins and minerals sure do go a long way!
Steam Cleaning
Our last use of steam that can affect your health positively is of course, steam cleaning. Okay, you may be wondering, steam cleaning is great for your floors but how can your health benefit?
Steam cleaning is used to clean floors, carpets, furniture, toys, bathroom surfaces and just about everything in the home. Because of the air borne nature of steam, it not only cleans the object you’re applying it to but also the air.
The high temperatures of steam cause it to immediately kill microorganisms which include airborne bacteria and allergens. So while you are cleaning those floors, you’re also cleaning the air which leave you with a fresh and clean smelling home that is completely safe for you and your family.
Many people use scented aerosols and other chemical based cleaners in their home. However, these have many negative effects over time. They can cause chemical sensitivity, toxic buildups as well as cause you and your family to develop allergies and sinus problems.
Instead of using aerosols or chemical cleaners, you can use steam cleaners which clean both your home and your indoor air without toxic chemicals.
By improving your home’s air quality you are directly improving the health and well being of your family.
